(ART)BOOKS WE LOVE | Mein großes Buch der Farben

A few weeks ago I presented you an artbook (Farben in der Kunst) for children. This book is for children of 8 years and above. And maybe you remember “Das große Wimmelbuch der Kunst”?! I enjoy Wimmelbücher (I don’t know an English word for this kind of book – but I think you know “Where’s Wally? Big books and you have a lot to look and search something or someone…)

Today I present you a mix: “Mein großes Buch der Farben” is something between a Wimmelbuch and a book which explains colours. Do you know the game “I spy with my little eye”? (Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst.) On the first page you see my favourite painting of August Macke “Türkisches Café II” (you can see the original at the Lenbachhaus in Munich). After watching this big painting you have to search some colours – a very simple task. Another one is to find picture excerpts.

Mein großes Buch der Farben

Every task is connected with exactly watching the painting to find the excerpts, colours or the wanted persons or situations. In a very playful way little children get to know popular paintings. They will be lead to art. This artbook contains 21 paintings and wonderful tasks for children of 4 years and above.

This book was published for the first time in 2012 and I think it’s going to be a classic! A wonderful present for little children – and it’s fun for the parents, too. (Because in the end there are the answers and you get some more information about the paintings.)
