This month there is a little but very special exhibition in a hotel in Paris. I discovered it in a magazin and it sounds great. So if you are in Paris you should consider to visit “Noah’s Ark” (“L’Arche de Noé racontée par Van Cleef & Arpels”).
It’s a presentation of high jewelry by Van Cleef & Arpels. The designer of the presentation is Robert Wilson. He is an amazing scenograph. He is in charge of several theater and opera productions. He made wonderful videoportraits, photographies and stage settings.
In his vision of the Ark, Robert Wilson imagined a sensory mise-en-scène plunged in the engulfing darkness. The constant screening of a video is reminiscent of the sea; the soft and enfolding piece of music evokes mystery; the skies darken as lightning streaks herald a storm, the Ark departs, and the ensuing respite hums like a promise of peace…
Robert Wilson creates a dreamlike travel through a positive and timeless interpretation of the of Noah’s Ark, evoking first of all a preserved paradise. (Van Cleef and Arpels)
The exhibition is about animal brooches. Every animal is presented as a couple. Over fourty brooches are shown in this amazing showroom. Every object is high jewelry. This means the work of every single object is a precision work, it’s very filigree. And this is why it’s so expensive, the best materials and jewelry are used for these wonderful pieces.
