As you might already know from our Instagram account I spent the last week in Munich. I travelled down there with my mum and my grandma and we had a blast. I will tell you more about the best places to go next week.
Munich is one of my favorite cities in Germany and it’s always worth a visit! But as city trips are exhausting it’s always important to have a great place to stay. I am not a big hostel person and I’ve never really got the Airbnb thing to be honest. I like to stay in a comfy hotel and let myself be treated nicely. But it’s never easy to find a great hotel most are expensive and still offer a bad service. That’s why Wera and I decided to tell you about the best hotels to go to when you travel.
I am very happy I was invited to check out the Hotel Splendid-Dollmann for you and I can tell you it’s a unique and special place. It’s located in a 19th century neo-classical house right in the heart of Munich, in midst of the historical borough Lehel. It’s one of the oldest quarters in Munich and very charming. You’re close to the high street Maximilianstraße, where you can find all the luxury labels and shop until your bank account is on strike 😉 You can also reach the English Garden in just a few minutes, one of the best known and largest parks in Germany. With 417 hectares, it is even larger than Central Park in New York City. Also not far are the Bavarian National Museum, the Haus der Kunst, Villa Stuck and the National Museum of Ethnology. All of them must-sees for culture and art lovers. And if your destination is somewhere else there is a metro station right in front of the hotel.
They gave us a very warm welcome in the hotel and I felt like a princess the whole week because the hotel is furnished with 18th and 19th century antiques, unique paintings, first-class materials and drapery. Very classy and elegant and especially unique. I stayed in a lot of hotels before and I also like design hotels a lot but you hardly find places this special. It’s like travelling back in time but with a modern approach to service and comfort. All the little details made a big difference for me. Instead of a piece of chocolate on the bed you get a book and cake as a welcome present and the finest olive oil treatments in your bathroom. And instead of a cold lobby they have a very cozy library room with a fire place.
Particularly important for me, next to my room and the general appearance of a place, is the breakfast menu. If I am on a city trip running around all day discovering places I need a nice breakfast to start the day. I don’t have much time for breakfasts during the week when I work so I enjoy them even more when I am on holiday. The hotel definitely offered everything I need for a good start into the day. They had a wide range of fresh fruits and everything else you can think of. You can also order fresh eggs the way you like them. And most importantly the coffee was really good. They also have a little garden in the back where you can have your breakfast or relax during the day.
I had a brilliant time and if you’re looking for a place to stay in Munich the Hotel Splendid-Dollmann is a great option. You just have to book in advance because they have only 35 rooms and are booked up quickly.
