It’s been a while since I have seen the opera „La Traviata“. The opera was in Italian language with German subtitles. And I remember it was great, because it was my first real opera. Since May this opera is performed in Rome (Teatro dell’Opera di Roma). 15 performances were scheduled. But what’s so special about it? Well, of course it’s one of the most famous operas in the world with music by Giuseppe Verdi. It consists of three acts not five like a lot of others. But…
The wonderful Sofia Coppola is the Director of it in Rome. But more important for this blog – maybe – is in fact Valentino designed the costumes for the female protagonist (Violetta). Valentino’s successors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli designed the costumes for the rest of the crew. Opera meets fashion, fashion meets opera!
Ok, some sad news, today is the last performance. 😦 But I am sure someday you will see this costumes in a museum. 😉 and we will be there to tell you about it.
