A Weekend at Crowne Plaza Hotel Berlin

I was invited to stay a weekend at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Berlin and of course I couldn’t resist. I love to check out hotels for the blog and discover new places to stay at. Crowne Plaza Berlin is a 4 star rated hotel located in the very heart of Berlin. It’s in a side street between Ku’damm and Kurfürstenstrasse, the main shopping areas. The Berlin Zoo is also just a few steps down the street. So it’s pretty great to be based in that area if you want to explore the city. You could even reach most of the museums by foot, what I did, because I think if you walk instead of using the underground you get a better feeling for a city.

The hotel is owned by the InterContinental Hotels Group which also holds the Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, the Holiday Inn group and many more. Crowne Plaza Berlin offers 423 rooms devided in 3 different categories. I was given a superior one which is the middle category.

My Room

Crown Plaza Berlin

My room was really big and more than adequate for a weekend. It was located on the 7th floor which was the highest and really satisfying. I prefer to be on the top level in a hotel where you get the biggest chance for a beautiful view. Well, it’s hard to find a really pretty view in Berlin, but I will tell you tomorrow where to go for that. The only thing I missed in my room was a bath tub. I really love those, but you hardly get them in modern hotels. All in all I was really happy with my room and it was very pleasant to spend the weekend there. The bed was comfy and the WIFI fast 😉

Crown Plaza Berlin
I think the second most important aspect of an hotel is the breakfast buffet. Most hotels charge you a lot for them so it’s just reasonable to expect a certain standard and choice of food. So even me being not a big breakfast eater checked out everything for you and I have to say they’re well prepared. Crowne Plaza offers a big international breakfast buffet with everything you need. The little waffles and pancakes were just perfect. I never make such things at home so it’s nice to get them on a holiday. They even had an Asian section which I’ve never seen in a hotel outside of Asia. The only thing I missed was the option to order eggs freshly from the kitchen in the style you like them. But they had scrambled and boiled ones at the buffet.

Wilson’s – The Prime Rib Restaurant

Crown Plaza Berlin

I was invited to check out the restaurant of the hotel, too. It’s located on the ground floor and of course open to the public not just the guests. It’s a prime rib restaurant and they offer a classic steak house menu. I was offered to try the monthly 5 course menu they create. You can book that for 59,90€ per person and it even comes with a 5 course wine menu. That’s a pretty good price-performance ratio for a steak restaurant. So I took one of my Berlin friends with me and -shame on me- forgot that she is a vegetarian. A steak restaurant is not necessary the place for a vegetarian but they did a great job! When we told them they immediately altered the set menu for her and created a 5 course vegetarian one. Very professional, very nice! They defiantly have great service staff there – totally customer orientated. I gave a big tip for that.

The dinner was great, the food was well cooked and really delicious. The wine was really nice too. But it was way to much food for me I have to admit. I am not a big eater and 5 courses are a lot. I could have easily skipped two and still would have been totally stuffed. Next time I have to take my boyfriend with me 😉

Berlin has a lot of great places to eat at, but if you looking for a high class or romantic atmosphere I can recommend Wilson’s.

Kemmons Bar

After I went out with another friend on Saturday night (read more about that on the blog tomorrow) we took a last dring in the hotel bar. It’s a old fashioned Piano bar and reminded me a lot of American hotels. The bar is also open to the public and really cozy. Don’t go there if you’re on a budget, but if you don’t care how expensive your cocktail is, it’s a nice place for a last dring. The bartender was cute and competent, the snacks much better than in the most bars.

So this was my personal experience of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Berlin. If you’re looking for a great location to stay in the city I can highly recommend it. I would come back for sure.

In cooperation with Crowne Plaza Hotel.

  1. Oh, das sieht aber toll aus! Ich liebe es auch in Hotels zu bleiben und teste super-gerne auch incognito als Mystery Tester. Wird für den nächsten Berlin-Besuch auf jeden Fall vorgemerkt 😉
