Yesterday we told you about the great hotel we were invited to check out in Frankfurt. A place to stay is of course very important when you travel but the second most important thing is great food. Wera and I normally spend the whole day in museums and galleries so it’s always good to know where to get great food. So we were very excited to be invited to test some great restaurants, too. Of course we have to tell you about our highlights in Frankfurt. We discovered two awesome places where you get delicious food. One is your choice for a nice long evening dinner and cocktails. The other is a place to stop by during the day.
Walon & Rosetti
The restaurant “Walon & Rosetti” is probably one of the best in Frankfurt. It’s a bar and grill with Italian fusion kitchen. You can go there for a big dinner, appetizers or just a cocktail. You will get the best that’s for sure. We stayed there for dinner Saturday night and enjoyed a selection of different tapas style appetizers and dinner. I also tried the cocktail menu and was excited that they had one of my favorite long drinks – the Dark & Stormy (mainly Rum and Ginger Beer). Wera hardly drinks alcohol so that’s my part 😉 The food was amazing and everything was homemade, even the fries. Also the owner, Radu Rosetti, is a very kind host and pretty good-looking, too. What else can you ask for?
Fame – the Sandwich Shop
The other place we really liked was “Fame – the Sandwich Shop”. It reminded me of New York and I didn’t get disappointed. They offer American style Italian sandwiches if that makes sense. It’s located in Sachsenhausen, a pretty cool area in Frankfurt where you also find a lot of young designers, a street food market and emerging artists. So it’s defiantly the area for art and fashion lovers to stop by. The menu is very simple. They offer four different kinds of sandwiches accompanied by changing daily choices of the chef. Their specialty is the “Porchetta” a sandwich with Italian roasted meat on it. I can’t even describe how delicious it was. It comes with homemade onion marmalade. We also tried their home made lemonade. The whole concept convinced us and we enjoyed the little stop there. The shop owner also has a very cute dog. That’s a plus, too. And to give you some further nerdy extra knowledge. Fame means in Italian being hungry.
