The unique collaboration between internationally acclaimed designer Kostas Murkudis and Anne-Katrin Hummel, creative director of flip*flop is over. I got this information from the press agent of flip*flop. What a shame. I love my Murkudis heels and I planned on getting another pair soon. You still get the shoes Murkudis designed for the German company in their shops but I guess when the shoes sold out they will be gone forever. I hope I am lucky and find one of the pairs in bright colors which give you the impression of a rainbow under your feet. You find some pictures of those here.
The inspiration for the shoes was the flip*flop original. Inspired by the idea of “Technology meets Nature”, flip*flop came up with a way to layer leather and EVA ( the material used for the original flip*flops) to create a stacked wedge. The first collection was launched in summer 2009 during Berlin fashion week. The shoes are so comfy and made great design affordable for everyone. There is no way I see myself buying pieces from a regular Murkudis collection. If you ask yourself who Kostas Murkudis is, you can read about him in this post.
So my conclusion is if you have the chance to get some of the Murkudis x flip*flop pairs, get them 😉
