Fashionyard meets Platform Fashion

I went to Platform Fashion in Düsseldorf last weekend. The Fashion Show was taking place for the fourth time during the Collection Première Düsseldorf. Besides fashion shows of well established German labels, this season’s Platform Fashion was open to the public for the first time ever. In cooperation with the fashion market Fashion Yard they presented a fashion show with a Pop-Up-store-area afterwards. Ten upcoming labels were showing their latest collections on the runway. The young label Trinkhallen Schickeria from Cologne was also present. That was one of the main reasons I went there. I absolutely adore the concept. They buy vintage clothes and fabrics to create some new awesome slow fashion clothes. It’s the total opposite of most label concepts. I planned on buying some pieces for a while already. But more about my new pieces in another post next week.

Before the actual shows started we were invited into a lounge area with lots to do. Platform Fashion is supported by companies such as Douglas, Porsche, ghd and more. So there were different stations all around the lounge area where you could get your nails done, get a professional hair styling or try some new make-up. Also there was free champagne and cocktails. I really enjoyed all of that.

The fashion show

The location was a pretty cool old factory area in Düsseldorf. On the picture you can also see the goodie bags every visitor got. I enjoyed all the shows but I have to say that the designs of Trinkhallen Schickeria were my favourite. They cooperated with the label Elektropulli which produces organic leather bags and pouches. I have to say the vintage fabric clothes with the organic leather bags suited each other perfectly. That might be a reason why I bought not just a dress and a coat but also one of the bags after the show.

 What I bought

Well I am a shopping addict so of course I had to buy something at the pop-up-area after the show. Originally I planned on buying a dress from Trinkhallen Schickeria. But you probably know how that is. So on my way there I stopped at the table of the jewellery label Josemma. She does so adorable little things. Check out her Dawanda shop if you’re a fan of very unique and affordable pieces. So I bought a ring and a necklace I will probably wear with a new green dress I bought the other day for a garden party in August. She also does really cute earrings. Well after that I wanted to buy a dress from Trinkhallen Schickeria, and I did indeed, but I also saw this great oversize coat they had in the show and I just had to get it. You know how that happens. If you don’t look the cool stuff will find you. And then there were the bags by Elektropulli. I just fell in love with the organic leather and the gold color. It’s so different. If anything is extraordinary and far away from mainstream fashion I just have to get it. That’s one of my bad habits I guess. But both labels have very fair prices for hand-made clothes. It’s definitely worth it. And because I love my new pieces by Trinkhallen Schickeria so much I chose them for my next shoot this weekend. So you have to wait until next week to see them 😉
