Just recently I discovered this awesome project by Liza Snook you just have to know about. If you’re a shoe lover like I am you will love the virtual shoe museum as much as I do. It’s a collection of unusual and extraordinary shoe design. Most of them just exist in small editions or are even unique. At the virtual shoe museum you can search for your favorite designer, shoe type, material or style. I already wrote about Liza’s collection of experimental shoe design here. Because even cooler than the virtual museum are the exhibitions Liza is doing all over the world from time to time. Right now there is one in Klagenfurt (AUS). It’s a bit out of my reach but if you’re in the area take a look! And what’s pretty interesting is that the shoes are not just from designers but also created by artists or architects who have a total different approach to the object shoe.
I can totally agree with Liza Snook’s statement about her passion: ‘Shoes symbolize passion and sensuality. They can move you in different ways. They can inspire and impress you. Shoes can be your second skin and bring you in or out of balance. In the hands of designers, artists and architects these fashionable everyday objects turn into spectacular and unique sculpture. Wearable or unwearable; as an art object, as a fetish. I think shoes acquire an autonomous artistic statement beyond everyday use.’
So if you’re in love with shoes, fashion and art get lost in the virtual museum of shoes 😉
